The replacement narrowband UVB tube for the Dermfix 1000MX and Dermfix 2000SX. It is a 9 watt fluorescent tube emitting narrowband ultraviolet at 311nm, and it is the same tube fitted to both lamps when they leave the factory.
Tubes are a consumable part. Output declines gradually with hours of use, and the tube should be changed after approximately 400 operating hours. Because the fall is gradual rather than sudden, a tube well past that point continues to light without any obvious sign that it is no longer performing to specification. Replacing on the stated schedule is how the lamp is kept at the output it was specified at.
Hours accumulate slowly. Individual sessions are short, so 400 hours represents a substantial period of ordinary use rather than a few months. Keeping a running note of session times is the only reliable way to know where you are.
The 1000MX carries one tube. The 2000SX carries two, and both should be changed at the same time so the pair stay matched through their life. Order two pieces for that lamp.
Replaceable bulbs are excluded from the two-year warranty that covers the lamps themselves.

Questions
How often does the tube need changing?
After approximately 400 operating hours. That is cumulative lamp-on time, not elapsed time since purchase, so it depends entirely on how often and how long the lamp is run.
How many should I order?
One for the 1000MX, two for the 2000SX. On the twin-tube lamp, change both together so they age at the same rate.
Will I be able to tell when it is due?
Not by looking at it. A tube beyond its rated hours still lights normally while its output has fallen, which is why the change is made against recorded hours rather than appearance.
Is the bulb covered by the lamp warranty?
No. The lamps carry a two-year warranty as standard, and replaceable bulbs are specifically excluded from it as a consumable item.
