The Dermfix Halo is a contact-free LED panel for the face and upper body. It stands in front of you at close range rather than being worn, so nothing rests against the skin. That is what separates it from a mask or a pad, and it is why a session is hands-free.
The Halo is not a scaled-down RLF panel. It has a different wavelength set, a simpler control scheme and a much lower power draw, and it is built for a smaller treatment area. Where the RLF panels cover the torso or the whole body, the Halo covers the face, neck and shoulders.
Wavelengths
Four wavelengths across 240 high-power LEDs:

Two of these, 415nm and 590nm, are not offered anywhere in the RLF range.
Controls
Everything is set from the included handheld remote. Four light combinations and three brightness levels give twelve settings in total. Preset timers run from 5 to 30 minutes and switch the panel off at the end of the session.
There is no per-wavelength dimming and no pulsing frequency control; both are RLF features.

How it compares to the RLF panels
The Halo and the RLF panel range are built for different jobs.
The Halo carries two visible wavelengths the RLF panels do not, 415nm and 590nm. It draws 40W rather than several hundred, and it is run from a single remote rather than a touchscreen with independent channel dimming.
The RLF panels cover a much larger area per position, and they carry published, spectrometer-measured irradiance figures. A spectrometer-measured irradiance figure is not published for the Halo. If a stated output figure matters to you, the RLF750 is the smallest panel in the range that has one.

Supply and delivery
Stock is held in the UK and dispatched from the UK, each unit supplied with a UK three-pin plug, so there is no import VAT, customs charge or courier handling fee to pay on arrival. Warranty work is handled here.
Free UK delivery applies to orders over £400, which at its current price includes the Halo ordered on its own.
Questions
How long is a session?
The preset timers run from 5 to 30 minutes and the panel switches itself off when the timer ends. Shorter presets are the usual starting point.
Is eye protection needed?
The panel is bright and should not be looked into directly. The blue channel in particular is visually intense. Goggles are not supplied; closing the eyes for the session is sufficient. This differs from our narrowband UVB lamps, where eye protection is a requirement rather than a preference.
What are the four light combinations for?
Each combination switches on a different grouping of the four available wavelengths. They are selections of spectrum rather than programmes assigned to particular uses, and which one you run is your choice.
Can it be used on the body as well as the face?
Yes. The panel is not shaped to the face and can be positioned in front of any area, though the treatment field is small, so body work means one region at a time. For torso or full-body coverage in a single position, an RLF panel is the appropriate size.
Does the Halo have a published irradiance figure?
No. A spectrometer-measured irradiance figure is not published for this unit, and we would rather say so than quote a number we have not measured. Published figures are given on the RLF panel pages.
Does the Halo come with a UK plug?
Yes. The mains lead carries a UK three-pin plug fitted as standard, so the unit runs from an ordinary 13A socket without an adaptor.
Is this a medical device?
No. Red, near-infrared and visible-light LED panels are not classified as medical devices in the way our narrowband UVB lamps are. Red light therapy vs narrowband UVB explains which device does which job.

Everything about this product is high quality. The versatility of the halo is what attracted me to it the most. I love that everyone in my household can use it for different purposes and body parts. The hygienic non-contact use of the product is also very user friendly and practical.
